The Lawnmower Man (1992) You were cast as a scientist in The Lawnmower Man. Did you think this was going to become a recurring theme in your career? Obviously it comes back again with Mars Attacks!... It’s typecasting I suppose. I had no idea about the world of virtual reality – I didn’t know what the hell [director] Brett Leonard was talking about. I needed a job. I had to pay the rent that month. This gig came in. Leonard was this crazy dude: six foot four, hair all the way down his back, brilliantly funny and charismatic… he created this fantastic world which has, now, in the 21st century, finally come to fruition. It has a certain relevance within our society today. The interconnectedness of us all. The whole virtual world that we inhabit now. It was ahead of its time. All the phones are ringing. That’s the last line of that movie, when you see the old Bakelite phones sitting there. The cinematography on that is really cool... I did watch it a year or so ago with my sons and it really holds up because of the cinematography and also because of the storytelling. CASTELLANO  El cortador de césped (1992) Usted fue elegido como un científico en el cortador de césped. ¿Creía que iba a convertirse en un tema recurrente en su carrera? Obviamente se trata de nuevo con Mars Attacks! ... PB-Es típico,   supongo. No tenía ni idea sobre el mundo de la realidad virtual - Yo no sé de qué demonios el director,  Brett Leonard,  estaba hablando. Necesitaba un trabajo. Tenía que pagar el alquiler de ese mes. En ésto entró Leonard. Era ese tío loco: un metro noventa, pelo hasta el final de su espalda, brillantemente divertida y carismática ... creó este fantástico mundo que tiene, ahora, en el siglo 21, finalmente llegó a buen término. Tiene una cierta relevancia en nuestra sociedad hoy en día. La interconexión de todos nosotros. El mundo virtual entero que habitamos ahora. Fue adelantado a su tiempo. Todos los teléfonos están sonando. Esa es la última línea de la película, cuando ves los viejos teléfonos de baquelita sentado allí. La cinematografía  es realmente extraordinaria, bella... Lo viví un año atrás, con mis hijos ,  realmente  por la cinematografía y también por la narración.
