LA VIOLENCIA Y LOS NIÑOS ( SanDiegoRed)

  

El actor de varios filmes de James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, criticó severamente a las películas y videojuegos violentos. Luego de dejar el papel del agente secreto 007, apareció en películas como Mamma Mia! y The Ghost Writer. Recientemente, concedió una entrevista en la que recalcó el efecto negativo que, según él, la violencia en los medios ejerce en los niños.
Brosnan, quien prestó su voz para el videojuego James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing en el 2004, declaró: "Pienso que las películas ejercen, detesto decirlo, una influencia en nuestras sociedades. Y los juegos, que tratan de matar, que nuestros hijos juegan estos días tienen un fuerte efecto retorcido. No permitimos estos juegos en la casa, pero mis hijos los consiguen de todas formas porque van a casa de otros chicos."
El actor señaló también que "sin duda alguna somos una raza violenta y lo que podemos hacer ahora con las gráficas de computadora es espeluznante." También instó a prohibir los rifles de asalto y a monitorear con más rigor las armas de fuego, pues "la ley de pistolas en Estados Unidos es absolutamente loca y está fuera de control." Al respecto, Rodrigo escribió un estupendo artículo sobre por qué las figuras públicas atacan a los videojuegos.

(A long way down )

Last year, we saw a picture on Twitter of you and Aaron Paul at a Radiohead gig. Are you a Breaking Bad fan?
I am. I wish I was a complete connoisseur of it, but I don’t watch much TV. I got through the first season before working with Aaron, but then I left it in the company of my family who just devoured it…
Aaron and I are doing a film coming out later this year called A Long Way Down, a Nick Hornby story. It’s a quartet of players: Toni Collete, Imogen Poots, Aaron and yours truly. We’d all bought tickets. We’re all big Radiohead fans. Aaron took a photo and it just went viral big time.
I call that my "Evil Face". My 29-year-old son does the same face, actually – he’s an actor too. When I first saw him do it I thought, "Shit, that’s the stuff that I do. That’s one of my poses."

PB-Soy. Me gustaría ser un conocedor completo de él, pero yo no veo mucha televisión. Llegué a través de la primera temporada antes de trabajar con Aaron, pero luego lo dejé en la compañía de mi familia que sólo comieron ...

Yo le llamo mi "Face Evil". Mi hijo de 29 años de edad, tiene la misma cara, en realidad - es actor también. La primera vez que lo vi no lo pensé: "Mierda, eso es las cosas que hago. Esa es una de mis poses."

My opinion:

Through these 14 chapters published by Empire, we followed very briefly, the entire path from your comientos Pierce in the 80s. Certainly not his long filmography, but some of the most relevant, but I miss The greatest, The Nephew, The Ghost writer, Salvation Boulevard, etc.. It is difficult to summarize a career as long and fruitful, but in this summary we have seen how it has "been formed" on the excellent actor he is today. Mi opinión:
A través de estos 14 capítulos publicados por Empire, hemos seguido muy escuetamente, toda la trayectoria de Pierce desde sus comientos en los años 80.  Sin duda no está toda su larga filmografía, sino  algunas de las más relevantes, aunque echo de menos a The greatest, The Nephew, The Ghost writer, Salvation Boulevard, etc.  Es difícil resumir una carrera tan larga y fructífera, pero en este resumen hemos podido comprobar cómo se ha "ido formando" en el excelente actor que es en la actualidad.  Está próximo a rodar un film en Argentina "Ley Primera" y a últimos de este año, otro basado en un ex integrante del IRA.  La versatilidad de su actuación, le permite encarnar múltiples personajes de muy distintos matices. Hay quién se pregunta  el por qué de su éxito, les aconsejo que repasen someramente sus trabajos, y entonces lo comprenderán.

MAMMA MIA (  2008  )

Did you have any idea just how huge Mamma Mia! would be?
None. None whatsoever. I thought it would find an audience, of course – I knew it had an audience and a very strong following before I signed up. I had experienced the mightiness of ABBA in their day, but never did I know or believe that it would be such a monster hit.
It was criminal how much fun we had on that film. Once you got over the agony of singing and the sheer fear of opening your mouth to sing something like S.O.S., the rest was all gravy. It was just the company of Meryl. Meryl led the way. She was just a joy to behold each and every day in her love of the piece and her own courage getting out there and singing. We became a company. [Director] Phyllida Lloyd was very wise in having us all go to Pinewood Studios each and every day.
That was one of the surprises too. I said yes to this gig. I thought, “Fantastic. This will be great.” Then, of course, I end up going to work on the first day and realise I’m going back to Pinewood Studios. I felt, “Oh Jesus Christ, this could be interesting.” I went through the gates at Pinewood and I prayed they didn’t give me my old dressing room. They said I’d be in the Stanley Kubrick wing instead. “Thank God for that!”, I thought. So they gave me this beautiful dressing room, and I went in and pulled the curtains back and… there was the 007 soundstage right outside. 007 was back all over again.

¿Tuvo usted alguna idea de la enorme  repercusión que tendría Mamma mia?

PB-Ninguna. Ninguna en absoluto. Pensé que iba a encontrar una audiencia, por supuesto - Sabía que tenía una audiencia y un público muy fuerte antes de que me comprometiera. Yo había experimentado el poderío de ABBA en su día, pero nunca imginé que sería un éxito tan monstruoso.

Fue inmenso lo divertido que fué el rodaje   de esa película. Una vez que tienes controlada la dificultad del canto y el  miedo a abrir la boca para cantar algo como SOS, el resto era todo salsa. Fue la empresa de Meryl. Meryl abrió el camino. No era más que una alegría para la vista todos los días con su amor a la música y su propio valor salía y cantaba. Nos convertimos en una empresa.  Phyllida Lloyd  sabia  que todos nosotros iríamos a Pinewood Studios,  cada día.

Esa fue una de las sorpresas también. Le dije que sí a este concierto. Yo pensé: "Fantástico. Este será grande. "Luego, por supuesto,  acudo a trabajar  el primer día y me doy cuenta de que voy a volver a Pinewood Studios. Sentí, "Oh Jesucristo, esto podría ser interesante." Pasé por las puertas en madera de pino y recé  para que no me dieron mi viejo camerino. Me dijeron que estaría en el ala Stanley Kubrick , y pensé. "Gracias a Dios por eso!", . Así que me dieron este hermoso vestuario, y entraron y descorrieron las cortinas y ... allí estaba el estudio de sonido 007 justo fuera. Estaba de vuelta de nuevo con 007

Had you worked with Liam Neeson before Seraphim Falls?
No, but we had known each other. We always had nice encounters along the way. I’d always wanted to a western. He had as well. That’s the way it happened.
You’ve got one hell of a moustache in that film. It’s got good twiddle.
I grow good twiddle. “He was known for his twiddling.”

¿Habías trabajado con Liam Neeson antes  deSeraphim Falls?

PB-No, pero nos conocíamos. Siempre tuvimos encuentros agradables a lo largo del camino. Yo siempre había querido un western.  El también tenía esa idea. Esa es la forma en que sucedió.

Usted tiene  un gran bigote en esa película. Habitualmente ¿tiene bigote tan grande?.

PB- Tengo un buen bigote. "Él era conocido por estar jugueteando con el."

THE TAILOR OF PANAMA ( 2001)

When you moved away from Bond, you took a spy role in The Tailor Of Panama, but one with a very different tone…
For me, the Bond that I played was caught in a time warp between what had gone before and what Daniel does now. I always felt the restraints of the storytelling and it just didn’t have enough bite to it. It was in the writing. The ghosts of Sean and Roger were there for me. It was hard to pull away from that because they were written in such a vernacular of what had gone on prior.
The Tailor Of Panama just seemed right. I loved John Boorman and his work was so captivating. I thought, “Why not shake it up here? Why not play in the same vain, the same idiom, so to speak, of storytelling, juxtaposed alongside playing James Bond?"

Cuando se alejó de Bond,  tomó un papel de espía en El sastre de Panamá, pero con un tono muy diferente ...

PB-Para mí, el vínculo que jugué fue atrapado en un túnel del tiempo entre lo que había pasado antes,  y lo que Daniel hace ahora. Siempre sentí las restricciones de la narración y que simplemente no tienen suficiente argumentación. Fue en la escritura. Los fantasmas de Sean y Roger estaban ahí para mí. Era difícil alejarse de eso porque fueron escritos según el tiempo anterior,  de lo que había pasado antes.

El sastre de Panamá sólo parecía correcto. Me encantó John Boorman y su trabajo fue ¡tan cautivador !. Yo pensé: "¿Por qué no llegar hasta aquí? ¿Por qué no jugar en el mismo tono, el mismo idioma, por así decirlo, de la narración, yuxtapone interpretar a James Bond? "

GoldenEye (1995) Did you ever pinch yourself when you were in that tank? Did you ever think, “Is this really happening?” Completely. Absolutely. It’s a strange world to enter into because it was a world I never wished for or desired. It just came my way and it seemed like a golden opportunity to go do it. Then it disappeared. As far as I was concerned, it was never to be part of my life again. You have the responsibility to this character and it’s daunting, it’s overwhelming, it’s completely exhilarating. Being in that tank really was a pinch yourself moment. You live through many of those on each film. You’re playing this iconic character that you know will be seen by just about everyone on the planet – everyone knows who the man is and what his job is. You just hope you get right and you hope you save the world. I went on to do it four times and I seemed to get away with it. I had nothing but the greatest gratitude for my time playing him: the joy of it all was making the movies. The joy of it was reading the script and thinking, “How do I fit into this, how am I going to pull this off?” Then going to work and being bedazzled by the artistry of the stunts, the sets, the whole tableau. CASTELLANO GoldenEye (1995) ¿Alguna vez pellizcarse cuando estabas en ese tanque? ¿Alguna vez pensaste: "¿Es esto realmente está sucediendo?" PB-Completamente. Por supuesto. Es extraño entrar en ese mundo,  porque era un mundo que nunca deseé o deseado.  Llegó hasta mi y me pareció una oportunidad de oro para  hacerlo. Luego desapareció. En lo que a mí respecta, nunca iba a ser parte de mi vida de nuevo. Usted tiene la responsabilidad de este personaje y es desalentador, es abrumadora, es totalmente emocionante. Estar en ese tanque era realmente una increíble en  mismo momento. Se vive a través de muchos de los personajes  en cada película. Estás jugando a este icónico personaje que sabes va a ser visto por casi todo el mundo en el planeta - todo el mundo sabe quién es el hombre y cuál es su trabajo. Sólo espero que estés bien y no defraudar. Lo interpreté  cuatro veces y me pareció salirse con la suya. Yo no tenía nada en común con él, pero mi  mayor agradecimiento por el tiempo que lo hice: la satisfacción de todo esto es hacer las películas. La alegría de que estaba leyendo el guión y pensar: "¿Cómo encajo yo en todo esto, ¿cómo voy a sacar esto adelante?" Después de ir a trabajar y ser deslumbrado por el arte de las acrobacias, los juegos, todo el cuadro.

THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR ( 1999)

 

 

Were you aware that the sex scene in The Thomas Crown Affair would go on for so long?
No. It’s a little like in Ben-Hur it must’ve just said “Chariot Race”. For The Thomas Crown Affair, it just said “Love Scene”. I didn’t know it was going to go on so long... [director John] McTiernan was being brilliantly provocative and sexy. We found each other at the right time with that movie. I’d actually done his first film called Nomads. We struck up a relationship and then many years later I came round with this script. I went to him and he said yes.
Then you end up with a lovely piece of alchemy like that, as dangerous as it was trying to enter into the world of Steve McQueen. How do you act the king of cool? I was so damn nervous before that movie came out in New York. I remember having panic attacks in taxis and thinking, “Jesus Christ, what have we done?” I came out in hives or something. I couldn’t breathe. It was terrifying.

Sabía usted que la escena de sexo en The Thomas Crown Affair continuaría durante tanto tiempo?

PB -No. Es un poco como en Ben-Hur que debe haber sólo dijo "Escena de carro". Para el caso de Thomas Crown, dice "Love Scene". ¡Yo no sabía que iba a durar tanto tiempo! .El director John McTiernan estaba siendo brillantemente provocativo y sexy. Nos encontramos el uno al otro en el momento adecuado con esa película.  Había realizado su primera película llamada Nomads. Entablamos una relación y entonces, muchos años más tarde me vino redondo con este guión. Me acerqué a él , y me dijo que sí.

A continuación, conseguimos  una hermosa pieza ,  como eso, tan peligroso, ya que anteriormente lo había interpretado dSteve McQueen. ¿Cómo actúa el rey del  charm? ¡ Estaba tan malditamente nervioso antes de que la película se estrenara en Nueva York!. Recuerdo haber tenido ataques de pánico en taxis y pensando: "Jesucristo, ¿qué hemos hecho?"Tuve  urticaria o algo así. No podía respirar. Era aterrador.

MARS ATTACK ( 1996)

Was it your idea in Mars Attacks! to act with a lit pipe in your mouth throughout?
Yes indeed. It’s something which comes out of repertory theatre: when in doubt, have a prop. It’s completely silly but that’s the world of Tim Burton for you. He’s a unique player on the stage... there’s no one like that man. It was a joy to do it. I remember the first day of filming so well, when we were in the White House, in the Oval Office. Mr. Jack Nicholson – the big man – was there and the first shot was on him. So he looks at us all. We’re all sitting there. There are eight actors, eight fairly well-established actors, sitting there, staring at him. Suddenly, Jack said, “God damn, it’s getting hot in here.” He was so open and honest. Everyone gets nerves. It’s the joy of it. You see somebody challenged. But he was so gracious and so cool and so… Jack.
I was speechless that morning, working with him. I was having a cup of coffee by the bagels, desperately trying to remember my damn lines. Suddenly I look up and it’s Jack. “Hey Pierce,” he says. I keep stirring my coffee. Jack Nicholson is talking to me and I’m dumbstruck. Inside my head, I’m yelling at myself: “Jesus, just shake the man’s hand.” I couldn’t move. I was immobilised by the Jack-ness of it all.

Fue su idea en Mars Attacks!  actuar con un tubo iluminado en la boca ?

PB-Sí, por supuesto. Es algo que sale del teatro de repertorio: ante la duda, tener iniciativa. Es completamente absurdo, pero ese es el mundo de Tim Burton . Es un jugador único en el escenario ... no hay nadie como ese hombre. Fue un placer hacerlo. Recuerdo el primer día de rodaje ¡ tan bien !, cuando estábamos en la Casa Blanca, en la Oficina Oval. Mr. Jack Nicholson - el hombre grande - estaba allí, y el primer disparo era de él. Así que mira a todos nosotros. Estamos todos sentados allí. Hay ocho actores, ocho actores bastante bien establecidos, sentados allí, mirando fijamente. De pronto, Jack dijo: "Dios maldiga, qué calor hace aquí." Él era tan abierto y honesto. Todo el mundoestaba nervioso. Era la alegría en el rodaje. Usted ve a alguien desafiante,  pero era tan amable y tan ocurrente y tan ... Jack.

Me quedé sin palabras por la mañana, ¡trabajar con él.! Yo estaba tomando una taza de café junto a las caravanas, tratando desesperadamente de recordar mis  malditas líneas. De repente miro hacia arriba y es Jack. "Hey Pierce", dice. Sigues revolviendo el café. Jack Nicholson me está hablando y estoy estupefacto. Dentro de mi cabeza, me grito: "¡Jesús, sólo agitar mi  mano! " No me podía mover. Estaba paralizado por la llamada de Jack-
